Ola Olukoyede, the chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has refuted claims that the organization solely targets online scammers, also referred to as “Yahoo boys.”

Olukoyede pledged to lead an all-encompassing, wide-ranging anti-graft campaign that will not spare anyone connected to any kind of financial or economic crime.

This was said by the head of the EFCC in a statement made on Monday in Abuja by the agency’s spokesperson, Dele Oyewale.

He provided the guarantee in Abuja during an anti-corruption concert that aimed to raise public awareness and encourage participation in the battle against cybercrimes.

Olukoyede restated his dedication to an all-encompassing, completely integrated campaign against unethical behavior.

Nobody will be spared by us. Megathieves will not escape our punishment. We will work with those at the lower end as well as the mega.

“We have charged two former governors in the past two months. Thus, it is untrue that our attention is solely directed towards online scammers.

“We focus on all forms of economic and financial crimes, but internet fraud is bad enough,” he stated.

He warned young people not to engage in online crimes, emphasizing the serious repercussions of a conviction for such offenses.

“Youths must understand that having a criminal record limits their options for employment. Public office candidates cannot be ex-offenders; the stigma is unbearable in and of itself.

I strongly advise you to stay away from online crimes at all costs. “Any short-term gains from such crimes are not as important as your future,” he stated.
