Four people have been arrested in connection with the terror attack on Moscow’s Crocus City Hall, according to the Russian Federal Security Service, or FSB.

More than 140 people were killed in the attack, which happened on March 22. Gunmen stormed the concert venue and set it on fire.

But according to an FSB statement, the arrests took place on Sunday in the southern Dagestan area.

“Directly involved in the financing and supply of terrorist means to the perpetrators of the terrorist act carried out on March 22 in the Crocus City Hall in Moscow” is the charge leveled against the captured gang.

This comes after the Russian National Anti-terrorism Committee declared on Sunday that three people wanted for a string of terrorist offenses had been taken into custody.

In a follow-up statement, the FSB clarified that four foreign nationals were taken into custody during the operations that were conducted in the nearby town of Kaspiysk and the regional capital of Makhachkala.

One of the detained people was seen confessing in an FSB video, according to the news agency Interfax, saying, “I took weapons to them, these guys who attacked Crocus City Hall.” I brought guns from Makhachkala to them.

Before this information was made public, 12 Tajik nationals, including the alleged gunman, had been connected by Russian officials to the incident.

President Vladimir Putin has implied that the Islamic State (IS) may have ties to both the West and Ukraine. Both Kyiv and the Western nations have refuted this assertion, accusing Moscow of taking advantage of the tragedy. The IS has taken responsibility for the killing.

The arrests underscore persistent worries about Russian security, particularly in view of the FSB’s widely criticized reaction to the incident. The incident went ahead unhindered even after the US intelligence community sent warnings about possible “extremist” threats in Moscow.

Recognized for its consistent declarations about thwarting “terrorist cells,” the FSB has lately concentrated on apprehending those whom it regards as pro-Ukrainian sabotage agents.

President Putin has promised to exact revenge on those behind the incident and denounced it as a savage act of terrorism. In the wake of the catastrophe, he announced the lifting of security measures throughout Russia and called for a national day of mourning.
